Aelar Amakiir: Drow (Dark Elf) Warlock of D & D 5e
Aelar Amakiir is a 120-year old, dark elf (Drow) warlock, a good-natured goth, who is about 5-feet tall and skinny but deceptively intimidating--or charming, depending--with a charismatic look of obsidian-black skin, stark white hair, and pale red eyes. Aelar was mysteriously abandoned in the sunlit world and raised by charlatan (chaotic good) wood elves, who celebrated the illusions and tricks of Titania, the bright queen of the fey. However, the wood elves used him as a fortune teller, capitalizing on his freak appeal and folk knowledge of the Queen Mab, Titania's dark sister.
Over time, Aelar realized his tarot card readings were actually accurate and that he was really in touch with the dark archfey. He became increasingly enthralled with the dark power and pleasures, addicted to wine and trance states. Getting caught at scams, landing in jail, and hitting rock bottom, Aelar gave up drinking and made a pact with the Queen Mab: Aelar would worship and serve this dark archfey, loving her image in all her forms, in exchange for a new life of adventure and magic. The pact allows him to maintain his alignment and association with the wood elves as well as to have personal autonomy and free choices in the future.
Aelar no longer drinks alcohol but he still has a fondness for pipeweed, mushrooms, and other somewhat obsessive pleasures.
Aelar also has a False Identity, arising from his work with the charlatan wood elves, in which he has supposedly acted as an seer/advisor/diviner for the House of Neverember in Neverwinter. Currently, his raven (actually a shape-changed imp familiar, a pact boon from the dark fey queen) tells fortunes for a price, actually speaking by Eldritch Invocation through Aelars skills with tarot cards.
